After transposing, how do I get the correct play back?

This behavior is controlled by the "Update staff play back transposition" checkbox in the Transpose dialog. When checked, the results after the transpose will sound at the same pitch, even though you transposed. If you did not mean to leave this checked, you can reverse the effect by:

In NWC Version 1
Go into Staff Properties (F2), the Midi Tab, and change the Transposition field to "0", rather than the "#" that was changed after the Tools, Transpose command was used.

In NWC Version 2
The effect of the "Update staff play back transposition" checkbox is applied to all instrument changes in the staff. You have to change the Transposition field for each Instrument setting, including in Staff Properties, in order to reverse the process. You can also use Edit, Undo to reverse the Tools, Transpose operation, and then repeat the command with the "Update staff play back transposition" disabled.
