How do I change the browser that opens when I check for updates?
When you check for updates, NoteWorthy Composer simply passes a URL string to the Windows Shell. NoteWorthy Composer does not have any control over which browser is configured as the default on your system. The action that opens your browser is controlled by your Windows configuration.
Most browsers include built-in support for establishing them as your system's default browser. Here are procedures for two of the most popular browsers:
-
For Mozilla FireFox 1.5
- Go to Tools, Options, General, Default Browser, then press the "Check Now" button
For Mozilla FireFox 2
-
Go to Tools->Options, then the Main tab
-
In the System Defaults section, use the Check Now button
-
For Internet Explorer 6
-
Close all Internet Explorer windows
-
Open Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs
-
Enable Option "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser"
-
Start Internet Explorer (this must be your first Internet Explorer window in order for this to work reliably)
-
Answer "Yes" to the prompt
For Internet Explorer 7
-
Open Tools->Internet Options
-
Go to the Programs tab
-
Use the "Make default" button to force links to open in IE
-
If you prefer, you can enable the "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default browser" option
-
